EU-OSHA: Digital platform work in the health and social care sector: implications for occupational safety and health

The health and social care sector has traditionally been ahead of the curve in datafication and digitalisation trends. Accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the continued technological and societal changes affect not only the workers in the sector but also the affordability and quality of care provision. A paper of EU-OSHA (Link) offers evidence on the occupational safety and health (OSH) risks and opportunities of digital platform work in the sector.

Digital platform work: EU Member States’ regulations, policies and initiatives

A EU-OSHA policy brief highlights findings and takeaways from a study of OSH-related regulations, policies, strategies, initiatives, actions and programmes for digital platform work. It builds on four case studies, three of which present legislative initiatives in Spain, Italy and France. The fourth explains actions that labour and social security inspectorates can take to manage OSH risks.
