The Basi in dialogue: Safety and health – profitable for sustainable companies

Dr. Christian Felten Sebastian Bartels

How valuable are safety and health at work – not only in terms of motivated, healthy employees, but also for the sustainability and competitiveness of companies? What approaches are there, for example, for decision-makers to integrate occupational safety and health into sustainability strategies? What should company stakeholders do? Answers to these questions were offered at the first edition of the new online format “The Basi in Dialog”. The recorded event is available for viewing (in German).

The health of employees and protection against occupational accidents and diseases must be a top priority for companies as a matter of corporate responsibility and legal commitment. The “Return on Prevention” study by the ISSA (International Social Security Association) has shown that implementing appropriate measures also has a positive economic impact. But that’s not all: occupational health and safety has been given an enormous boost within society. At the same time, ambitious sustainability goals and strategies are becoming more and more prevalent in companies. How can established occupational health and safety concepts be used in a very practical way to support sustainable development? This was the topic of the 1st edition of a new online discussion format “The Basi in Dialogue”.

The series started with Sebastian Bartels, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Sustainability Services of the global expert organization DEKRA in conversation with Dr. Christian Felten, Managing Director of Basi, Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health.
