Dr Christian Felten took over the management of the Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health (Basi) in April 2020.

So far, he has directed the competence center „Work-related health hazards & vision zero“ of the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the transport industry, postal logistics and telecommunications (BG Verkehr)

There he was responsible (among other missions) for the investigations into suspected cases of occupational disease and prevention, the departments „Occupational and Traffic Medicine“ and “Industrial Psychology”, and for the implementation of the vision zero strategy in the BG Verkehr.

In the field of prevention of biological agents, he was a member of the BMAS Committee on Biological Agents (ABAS) for many years and as head of the sub-committee II „Protective Measures“ he was responsible for the further development of the ABAS Technical Rules. Furthermore he was a member of Subcommittee II of the BMAS Committee on Hazardous Substances (AGS) and the Committee for Occupational Medicine of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV)

In the field of international occupational health and safety Dr Felten is Vice President on the Board of the „Special Prevention Committee“ of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) in Geneva and as Secretary General on the Board of the „International Section for Prevention in Transportation“.

As the organizer of subject-specific symposia and industry conferences as well as at the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work Dr Felten brings together the key players at national and international level.

The graduate chemist Christian Felten comes from Travemünde and was appointed labour inspector  of the former BGF (today BG Verkehr) in 2000.

He contributed to the solution of the „Hamburg chemical scandal“ related to dioxin-contaminated waste in the area of ​​the chemical institutes in downtown Hamburg.

Dr Felten is interested in European history, he likes to restore classic vehicles (cars and motorcycles) in his free time. And as a balance to his work, he bikes, runs, swims or dances.
