They are changing conditions of competition, business models, operational processes, tasks and activities, with a wide range of impacts upon workers. These changes brought about by the technology present great opportunities, but also significant risks. The paper outlines the key challenges against the backdrop of the high number of innovations, the pace at which they are taking place, and current regulatory developments. It highlights the need for action in research, in the field and in regulation.
